Membership Terms and Conditions

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these membership terms and conditions. This helps prevent misunderstandings and promotes smooth and positive communication in the future. The following terms apply to tanning memberships at Sportsól, and both subscribers and other users are required to comply with them.

  1. Sportsól provides the subscriber with access to the membership card for which the subscriber is currently paying.
  2. Sportsól grants the subscriber unlimited tanning sessions while the agreement is valid (limited to one session per day), with a maximum session length of 14 minutes. The subscriber may not allow others to use the membership by selling, renting, gifting, or otherwise transferring it.
  3. Sportsól offers membership agreements with either a twelve-month commitment or a one-month notice period. The agreement cannot be terminated during the fixed contract period. Membership agreements with a three-month notice period expire three months after cancellation. For open-ended agreements, the notice period is one month. Paid membership fees are non-refundable. The subscriber shall pay the agreed monthly fee to Sportsól for as long as the agreement remains in effect.
    • The subscription fee for each month must be paid in advance.
    • The subscriber pays a monthly fee according to the current Sportsól price list for the use of an individual membership card. Sportsól reserves the right to change the monthly fee with notice published on www.sportsol.is. However, the monthly fee will not change during the initial 1- or 12-month contract period, depending on the agreement.
    • Sportsól reserves the right to check new subscribers against the Creditinfo default register. If a subscriber is listed in the register, Sportsól may terminate this agreement without further notice and/or reject a new application.
    • The subscriber authorizes Sportsól to request registration with the Creditinfo default register if payment arrears have persisted for at least 60 days, provided other legal conditions are met.
  4. Sportsól owns the tanning beds, and subscribers are responsible for using and caring for them properly.
  5. If the subscriber stops paying before the contract period expires according to Article 3, Sportsól may suspend access to tanning services. The subscriber remains responsible for paying the agreed subscription fees for the remainder of the contract period, as well as any collection costs incurred.
    • If the subscriber cancels the membership or fails to pay after the contract period has ended, the card will be closed and deleted. If a new agreement is made before closure, the previous arrangement may continue; otherwise, the current price list will apply.
    • Cancellations must be submitted with either three (3) months' notice or one (1) month's notice and must be received before the 15th of the month in order to take effect at the next month-end. Open-ended and 12-month agreements renew automatically unless written notice of cancellation is sent to askrift@sportsol.is.
  6. If a subscriber paying by credit card, direct debit, or invoicing wishes to make changes to the membership or payment method, Sportsól must be notified. Notice must be received no later than the 13th day of the month preceding the month in which the changes are to take effect.
    • If the subscriber breaches these terms and conditions, Sportsól may, without notice, suspend access to the membership card and pursue immediate payment and collection measures.
  7. Collection of card payments and invoices is handled by Borgun, Inkasso, or another authorized party designated by Sportsól.
  8. Valid identification must be presented each time a customer visits the tanning salon. A Facebook profile does not qualify as identification. Minimum age is 18 years.
  9. It is prohibited to allow third parties to use the membership card in any way, and subscribers may not bring another person under their membership.
  10. Sportsól reserves the right to amend these membership terms. Changes will be announced on sportsol.is with at least one month's notice.
  11. By signing the membership agreement, the subscriber agrees to comply with the terms and conditions established by Sportsól regarding access to the membership card.
  12. Sportsól guarantees complete confidentiality regarding all information provided by the subscriber in connection with these services. Subscriber information will not be disclosed to third parties under any circumstances.
  13. Any disputes arising from this agreement may be brought before the District Court of Reykjavík.
